Encapsulation
Encapsulation in a thermoset resin can dramatically improve the performance and reliability of electrical and electronic devices. Effective encapsulation requires the correct choice of material from the thousands available combined with the highest standards of production control. Capmark have extensive experience in all areas of encapsulation and are suppliers to a diverse range of industries. Castings range from a few grams to over 30 Kg typically in Epoxy, Urethane or Silicone materials.
Design
Correct design is not only essential for the reliable functioning of an encapsulated device, the choice of method and materials can also have a dramatic effect on the finished cost. There are a variety of reasons for encapsulating components including:-
- Electrical Insulation
- Mechanical Integrity
- Thermal Transfer
- Safety
- Working Environment
Processing
There are a number of methods of producing an encapsulated device including Transfer Moulding, Pressure Gellation, and Vacuum Casting. Capmark has the widest range of processing equipment to offer the most suitable method for each application. Using the Capmark service also relieves customers of the Health and Safety implications of using resins in house.
Quality Control
As encapsulation is an irreversible process it is essential that the highest standards of control are applied to all stages of manufacture. Each operation at Capmark is monitored and inspected to ensure that repeatable quality is maintained. For aerospace and military applications full traceability of materials and certificate of compliance can be provided.
